A theater show about the floods in Emilia-Romagna and a talk about plant rights at THE SONG OF THE EARTH

After the inauguration with Alex Cattoi’s Elemental Reflections exhibition at the Tartarotti Library, Il Canto della Terra (The Song of the Earth) is now in full swing in Rovereto. The festival, which runs until Sunday, October 12, combines science, art, and civic engagement to explore the challenges of ecological transition and of climate change.

Today, the city is buzzing with meetings and debates dedicated to the decarbonization of cities and the ecological crisis in alpine highlands. The IPRASE headquarters will be hosting experts, administrators, and researchers engaged in discussing strategies to reduce energy consumption, regenerate buildings, promote energy communities, and protect Alpine biodiversity. Two events that concretely show how environmental challenges can become opportunities for innovation for territories and communities. Tonight at the Smart Lab, documentary Sui sentieri (On the Trails)

Saturday, October 11: Pensiero Planetario and the show Fango

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 11, the discussion will expand to the frontiers of innovation with the Pensiero Planetario (Planetary Thought) event, scheduled at the Museum of Science and Archaeology (10 a.m.–1 p.m. and 2 p.m.–5 p.m.).

An entire day dedicated to the relationship between artificial intelligence and climate change: from cloud energy consumption to renewable digital communities, to the potential of digital twins developed by the Barcelona Supercomputing Center for environmental resilience. There will also be opportunities for scientists and artists to discuss new forms of language and perception of the world in the age of AI.

In the evening (9 p.m., Mart Conference Room), Marco Cortesi and Mara Moschini‘s show “Fango” will be staged. A powerful and touching story that retraces the tragedy of the floods in Emilia Romagna and becomes a metaphor for rebirth and solidarity.

Sunday, October 12: workshops, books, and “plant rights”

The last day of the festival will be dedicated to direct experience and participation.

In the morning, the Plastic Free Ride bike ride will kick off, and at IPRASE, there will be a rich series of workshops for all ages: from calculating your ecological footprint to climate conference simulations, to scientific experiments on glaciers organized by Liceo Filzi. For younger children, there will be activities dedicated to movement, music, and creative recycling.

In the afternoon, there will be events dedicated to books and documentaries: Oecologicus (4:30 p.m., IPRASE), which recounts life in a Dutch ecovillage, and Sottocorteccia by Pietro Lacasella and Luigi Torreggiani (6pm, Libreria Giunti), a poetic journey through the Alpine forests.

The festival will close (9pm, Sala Conferenze Mart) with a talk by Alessandra Viola, science communicator and author, who will offer a new perspective on the rights of plants as a key to rethinking the relationship between humans and nature and building new forms of ecological awareness.

With Il Canto della Terra, Rovereto confirms its role as a meeting point between research, art, and community, transforming the dialogue on sustainability into a shared experience of knowledge, creativity, and the future for five days.
