On Saturday, October 18, at 4 p.m., as part of EcoLogica, the mural “Novum Initium” will be inaugurated at the former Manifattura Tabacchi in Rovereto
SPRAY VIBES is a project promoted by Tra le Rocce e il Cielo APS as part of the Rovereto Municipality’s Youth Plan, with the aim of paving the way for the Municipality to create the Rovereto Street Art Table, a permanent body that will involve young people, schools, artists, and associations in defining a new city policy for urban art.
The project develops the theme “Care, places, and people,” proposing Street Art as a form of regeneration and dialogue between generations. Through labs, workshops and international cultural exchanges, SPRAY VIBES transforms walls and urban spaces into surfaces for meetings, participation, and shared beauty.
The main protagonists of the project were the students of the Depero Art School and those of the A.R.G.O. association, who, together with We-Ink, Relab Video by Ubalda Girella, Rovereto Pazzeska by La Foresta, the Trento Street Art Table, and the Dutch organizations Stichting Los Zand and Stichting Creative Horizons, have initiated an international dialogue on public art with Rovereto.
Over the past few weeks, SPRAY VIBES has held training workshops on sustainable street art techniques with students and artists. In the coming months, a shared map of urban walls destined to become spaces for free expression will also be completed.
The activities involve over a hundred young people between the ages of 14 and 35, students, artists, and citizens, creating a widespread laboratory that is transforming Rovereto into a model of artistic regeneration and intergenerational participation.
The first visible result of this ongoing process is ‘Novum Initium’, the large mural on the wall overlooking the car park in Viale Vittoria of the former Manifattura Tabacchi, now Progetto Manifattura, which will be inaugurated on Saturday 18 October at 4 p.m. as part of the EcoLogica festival.
The inauguration will be open to the public and cultural operators, with a guided tour by the artists and protagonists of the SPRAY VIBES project, and will include the opportunity for dialogue with the community on the themes of street art, sustainability, and urban regeneration.
The work, created using Keim eco-sustainable photocatalytic paints that contribute to air purification, represents a symbol of rebirth and connection between art, the environment, and the community, and saw the active participation of the young people involved in the project.
Designed and coordinated by Rayden Elodie, an artist and curator with over 25 years of international experience, Novum Initium brings together five generations of artists—YorkOne, Eech, Skugio, Ares—along with students from the Depero Art School.
The work intertwines classical and contemporary styles, blending past and future in a single visual language. It is a dialogue between different eras, experiences, and sensibilities, a continuous cycle of transmission and innovation that makes the intervention unique in northern Italy, thanks in part to the international collaboration with Stichting Creative Horizons (Netherlands).
The designs by Ares and Skugio define the main visual layout, while the contributions by YorkOne and Eech add layering, depth, and movement. The result is a collective work of high artistic and technical quality, combining vision, expertise, and environmental responsibility through the use of eco-friendly and durable materials.
