EcoLogica: workshops and ideas for a sustainable future

A day to imagine a greener, fairer, and more responsible future together: on Saturday, October 18, Rovereto’s Progetto Manifattura Tabacchi will be transformed into an open-air workshop with EcoLogica, an event promoted by the Department of Ecological Transition and Environment of the Municipality of Rovereto.

The events brings together associations, businesses, organizations, and citizens operating in Rovereto for a day dedicated to sustainability in its many dimensions—environmental, social, and economic. With a full day packed with workshops, meetings, games, information stands, and a market selling sustainable products, EcoLogica explores the practices of recycling, waste reduction, circular economy, and ecological transition, with the special participation of television presenter Tessa Gelisio.

The day will kick off with a sustainable, locally sourced breakfast from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Factory Café in Progetto Manifattura, an opportunity to enjoy authentic local products and start the day with a concrete gesture of sustainability (reservations required on the website). Immediately afterwards, you can test your civic skills with “Cane Buon Cittadino” (Good Citizen Dog) by the Rovereto Dog Club or experience the adventure of Econauti: the sustainability escape box with APPA Trento, an experiential game that, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., transforms recycling, reuse, and respect for the environment into fun puzzles and challenges for children and adults.

From 10 a.m. Dai nèta, Ci piace pulito, Plastic Free, Caminem ensema, and netem lead the cleanup of the Leno area, a concrete gesture of care for the environment. “Supporting and Sustaining Ourselves: The Connection Between Environmental and Personal Well-Being” is a session exploring how our surroundings impact our mental health. Organized by Futuro in Circolo, the event takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and brings together themes of sustainability and well-being. “Listening to the Forest, Imagining the Future” with AConnection unfolds alongside, offering an immersive journey where adults and families are guided by the forest’s sounds and rhythms to envision regenerative possibilities.

Creativity and craftsmanship come together in “Botanica Fantastica, il disegno è per tuttə” (Fantastic Botany, drawing is for everyone) by ateirami studio, a workshop at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to create a collective herbarium, and in Lucicate’s Swap Party from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., where everyone can exchange their clothes in good condition with those of other participants, promoting a more sustainable wardrobe.

Food takes center stage again with the Sustainable Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., a convivial moment that combines short supply chains, local products, and authentic flavors. Orzotto dell’Orto will be distributed free of charge thanks to the collaboration with Risto3 and Cantina Vivallis.

At 2:00 p.m., the Municipality of Rovereto and Brave New Alps APS will present the Call for Experimental Projects, for those who want to transform the region through innovative food-related initiatives. “A walk through history and the future” is a guided tour (at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.) of the former Manifattura, which tells how Rovereto and the surrounding area can become laboratories for the green economy.

The afternoon hosts activities for the whole family: from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the There’s no Planet B workshop, where posters on the climate crisis will be created using recycled materials; from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., “There is a close relationship between the environment and health”, a meeting with a pharmacist organized by SMR in Rovereto; “Bruno the Caterpillar” (3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.), animated storytelling for children.

At 4:00 p.m., the NOVUM INITIUM mural will be unveiled, a collective work created with photocatalytic paints that purify the air, the result of collaboration between students, artists, and local associations.

From 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., adults and children can participate in “Fix your bike,” a practical bicycle repair workshop with RuotaLibera.

The day will end at 6:30 p.m. with the talk “Ecological Transition: Necessity or Opportunity?” with Tessa Gelisio, television presenter and author, writer, blogger, president of the environmental association forPlanet Onlus, and expert in environmental communication, and journalist Walter Nicoletti, to understand how to transform everyday choices into concrete actions for a sustainable future.

Throughout the day, the festival will host a rich exhibition and information area, where visitors can discover, learn about, and purchase ethical, artisanal, and low-environmental-impact products, meeting local organizations directly involved in environmental protection, reuse, and the promotion of collective well-being.

Exhibitors include: the Rovereto Civic Museum Foundation, with demonstrations of the mobile air laboratory and scientific insights;

ENPA, which will show the cartoon “L’Orso Flavio” (Flavio the Bear) to raise awareness among adults and children about animal protection;

Apicoltori in Vallagarina APS, which will showcase the world of bees through the use of an educational beehive.

Curated by LegaAmbiente Trentino, “Custodi di biodiversità” (Guardians of Biodiversity), an environmental education project on the European network of protected areas;

Ludimus, with nature and environment-themed board games for children aged 12 and over;

Pietra Network, with the “Misterybox,” a sensory experience that shows how waste can be transformed into technology through a circular tour;

Mlal Trentino Onlus, which will present “Gioca con l’ambiente” (Play with the environment), a playful adventure in which to learn how to protect the planet;

Altr’Uso | the conscious reuse shop and CedAS Caritas, with an exhibition and sale of second-hand clothing, accessories, and objects;

Mas del Gnac, with organic food products such as compotes, nectars, syrups, and purées;

Da Mi a Ti and La Fonte, with gemmotherapy products, extracts, infusions, and other natural products;

Le Fusa, with information and advice on cat care;

Tra le rocce e il cielo, with an exhibition of panels created with students from Liceo Depero high school;

Volverup, with bags, wallets, and accessories made from recycled materials;

Recig Social Lab, with innovative solutions for recycling cigarette butts;

Steppy‘s workshops for children, focusing on travel, environmental sustainability, and social issues;

Gruppo Dolomiti Energia, with projects and initiatives related to the water cycle and waste recycling;

Plastic Free, with its projects to reduce plastic use and eliminate litter.

In addition to offering sustainable products, this space allows visitors to interact with local businesses, learn about projects, participate in practical demonstrations, and take home ideas, objects, and solutions for a more conscious lifestyle. The market thus becomes a place for meeting, discovery, and exchange, where sustainability and community come together in a tangible way.

Rovereto thus becomes the beating heart of a movement that combines education, play, civic engagement, and culture, with an inclusive program open to all. Admission is free for most activities, and organizers invite the public to participate by traveling sustainably—on foot, by bicycle, or by public transport—to fully experience the spirit of EcoLogica.

An opportunity to look to the future with imagination and responsibility, working together to build a more resilient community that cares for the planet we inhabit.

To participate in the event, we recommend entering from the parking lot on Viale Vittoria in front of the school. To be sustainable, we recommend reaching the location on foot or by bike.

EcoLogica is a project of the Department of Ecological Transition and Environment of the Municipality of Rovereto, curated by Tra le rocce e il cielo APS in collaboration with local institutions and associations. The event is sponsored by Risto 3, Cantine Vivallis, Calliari Fiori, and Volverup. The project is carried out and hosted as part of Trentino Sviluppo’s Progetto Manifattura.
